As yesterday was World Book Day we prepared some fun activities in PYP. Let's take a look!
1A For World Book Day the G1A learners chose the children's author Julia Donaldson and Illustrator Axel Scheffler. We read 3 books by Ms. Donaldson, Room on the Broom, Stick Man and Zog. For Room on the Broom we drew and colored pictures of what 5 things we would take on our magic broom stick with us. For Stick Man we imagined what 2 things we would do with an excellent if we'd found one and what would come next for Stick Man and his family. Finally, for Zog we made our very own dragon masks! Happy World Book Day!
The grade 1B students explored Eric Carle's book titled the Tiny Seed and expressed how they enjoy reading books while we discussed the topic of the amazing world of books and reading.
The grade 2A students read about several books by Dr.Seuss titled. They focused on a book titled The Lorax. With a recycling-friendly "Go Green" message, The Lorax allows young readers to experience.
The Grade 2B students celebrated World Book Day by reading and looking at many books written by James Dean. James Dean is the famous author who wrote Pete the Cat. The kids had a blast creating their own magical sunglasses so they could see the good in every day.
The Grade 3 students celebrated World Book Week by learning about Enid Blyton. They searched and discussed some basic facts about Enid Blyton and listened to one The Faraway Tree.
The grade 4 students learned about Dav Pilkey. Dav Pilkey is known for his popular books titled Dog Man. The students listened to a story called Dog Breath and inquired about cause and effect in the story.
The grade 5 students have been been studying poetry this week so they took a look at a poem by Roald Dahl -'Television'. They listened to the poem and discussed it's meaning, the author's main idea was that television was bad for kids and they should read books instead. The poem was divided into parts and each student had a part to re-write and illustrate.
