High School Open Day


On November 16th, the high school of CBS held an Open Day to promote communication between families and our school.

Parents were warmly received by school careers counselor Katrina with an overview speech of the successful college applications from the Senior Class of 2019.  Numerous conditional offers from top 100 universities have already been received.

Mr.Lane started his lecture about the application process of UK and Australian Universities he was able to explain to the parents and 

students how the A Level students’ transcripts are accepted at these said Universities.

Additionally, Amber Li from Class A of Grade 11 shared her experience of the summer camp in Cambridge and her decision to study Economics instead of Engineering at university.

Parents then attended demonstration lessons for Grade 10 and Grade 11.  Parents were included in Economics, Biology and English demonstration classes, some of these classes are taught vastly different at A level compared to the Chinese curriculum so parents were able to experience the different pedagogy and expectations.

Ms. Dai's Economics content was about the types of enterprise integration . By studying the cases of famous enterprises in China, such as Mengniu, Didi Dache and Wanda Group, the students worked in groups, analysed and explained the characteristics and advantages of various types of integration. Ms Xue's class explored economies of scale through "learning by doing". The students were divided into two groups, big and small, to simulate the production process of large and small enterprises, and to calculate production costs.

After the demonstration lessons,parents were invited to the high school parent teacher conference including subject and home room teachers. First of all, each subject teacher share the analysis of the mid-term examination results, and put forward suggestions for the main areas for improvement in the students' learning.  Finally, homeroom teachers communicated with parents about the general wellbeing of the students.
